Camso’s Ancillary Products Division celebrates 3 consecutive years without accidents

Magog, QC, August 28, 2019 – Camso announces that its Ancillary Products Division (APD), located in Ekala, Sri Lanka, achieved three years accident-free on August 23.

The anniversary is a historical milestone in health and safety at Camso, as this is the manufacturer’s first plant to reach this major achievement. Three years without accident in a plant dedicated to recycling and producing ancillary rubber products is worthy of mention in the rubber manufacturing industry, as not many plants reach such an accomplishment.

“Achieving this important milestone fills us with a lot of pride and we want to congratulate every member of the team who contributed to making it possible,” says Sébastien Demers, Mixing Division Executive Director at Camso. “Ensuring our plants are accident-free requires continuous effort. In fact, it’s an everyday challenge. We must keep up the good work, continue to generate awareness among our teams and make sure that health and safety remains a top priority.”

Founded in 2001, the APD plant employs nearly 200 people. Over the past 15 years, the team developed and improved multiple fabrication and recycling processes through innovation and new technologies. The specialized equipment managed by the employees presents particularities that require proper training and regular risk assessment.

Setting the example for other plants

To address health and safety issues, Camso believes that there needs to be a culture change. “Health and safety is not a destination, but a journey,” adds Mr Demers. “The key to success goes way beyond work equipment or workspace organization: it lies in our teams’ mindset and their behaviour. It’s about developing a culture of health and safety.” This cutlure, the APD plant masters and it is setting the example for all other Camso plants.
